Weaving on a Zoom Loom:   Free
Time and Place:   ModeKnit Yarn vendor booth Saturday 11a.m. to noon

Description:   Learn to weave small squares on the Zoom Loom that can be knitted, crocheted or sewn together to make larger projects.   Compact and easy to carry, the Zoom Loom is a portable project anyone can do.   

Wash Your Wool and Have a Ball:   Free
Time and Place:  Saturday and Sunday 9 a.m. at BEKAZ Feltworks vendor booth
Instructor:   Linda Johnson-Morke
Description:  Learn about washing greasy wool, (a small amount) and then felting a ball out of that wet washed wool.

Making a Felted Sheep Pin:  Free
Time and Place:   Saturday Noon and 2 pm  and Sunday Noon at BEKAZ Feltworks vendor booth
Instructor:  Linda Johnson-Morke
Description:  Learn how to make a wet felted sheep pin using prefelt and locks of sheep’s wool. Everything looks better with sheep on it, even you.

Peg Loom Weaving:  Free
Time and Place:   Saturday 2-3 p.m. at Hollyhock Alpaca Creations Booth   
Instructor:  Teresa Kukowski
Description:   Peg looms are portable, easy-to-use looms for weaving all kinds of fun projects.  Great for kids.  Used to make scarves, placemats, trivets, table runners, rugs.  Can even use roving and felt after woven.  The ends of a project can be joined to create a cowl (on display at the booth).  You can even make wall hangings and doll house carpet!

Stranded Knitting:   Free
Time and Place:   Saturday and Sunday, 1-2 p.m. at Knitting My Way Home vendor booth
Instructor:   Sharon Knutson
Description:   Learn to read a chart and do stranded knitting.   You'll have time to sit down and do some sampling under Sharon's guidance.

The Ancient Technique of Loop Braiding:  FREE
Time and place:  To be announced, 15 minute demo
Instructor:  Kathy Belt
Description: Using 5 loops, create a strong decorative cord.  Has multiple uses, including trimming an outfit, tying a package, shoestrings, drawcords for purses, and many more. 
Students should bring:  an interest in learning
Age:  older than toddler
Skill level:  none



​The Ancient Technique of Finger Weaving (the basics):  FREE

Time and place:  To be announced, 30 minute demo
Instructor:  Kathy Belt
Description: Using 5 or 7 strands, create a strong decorative cord. It's the basics before going on to more elaborate and complicated stitches for sashes, belts, and other decorative items.
Students should bring:  an interest in learning
Age:  older than 5 (8 would be better but ...)
Skill level:  none (but hair braiding would be beneficial)

The Use of a Lucet for making cordage:  FREE
Time and place:  To be announced, 15 minute demo
Instructor:  Kathy Belt
Description:  In the days before KMart, you had to create your own cordage.  The lucet is a 2 prong wooden tool that is very portable.  It is said that women would either spin or use the lucet while walking to be sure the Devil didn't find idle hands.
Students should bring:  an interest in learning
Age:  older than 8

Natural Dyes:  Free
Time and Place:  At the festival
Instructors:  Alethea Kenney, Kathy Belt
Description:   Dyepots will be ongoing throughout the festival.   Come buy a skein to put in a dyepot, add your own fiber or yarn or just admire the vibrant and unique colors that can come from plants and other natural sources.
Age:  Anyone but children should be supervised, dyepots will be simmering
Skill level:  None

Using a Drop Spindle:  FREE
Time and place:  Reedbird Farm/Back in Balance Minerals® vendor booth, when available
Instructor:  Alethea Kenney
Description:  Spinning yarn on a drop spindle can be fun and is not difficult with practice and patience.   Alethea will walk students through the process of spinning fiber into yarn and talk about the different spindles and ways of spinning.  
Students should bring:  Interest and enthusiasm
Age:  Anyone able to use a toy top or twirl their hair can learn to spin yarn

Time and Place:  Reedbird Farm/Back in Balance Minerals® vendor booth
Instructor:  Alethea Kenney
Description:   Weaving on a continuous strand triangle loom is fun and easy once you learn the technique.  Come try your hand at weaving a bit on a triangle loom.   It's a good way to relax and creative beautiful wearable art without having to warp up a loom.
Students should bring:  Enthusiasm and interest
Age:  Anyone
