Description: Modular knitting is a general term that embraces several ways of creating multi-directional knit fabric. Tow of the most popular modular knitting methods are Entrelac and mitered (or domino) knitting. In this class, students will cover the basics of Mitered (or domino) knitting, learn ways to visualize color variations available in mitered knitting and begin The Universal Mitered Bag, which can be completed at the knitter’s own pace after the class. Students will learn new techniques for picking up stitches, joining a new yarn and weaving in the multiple ends of a modular knitting project in class
Students should bring: at least 3 balls worsted or sport weight in different colors (or variegated), circular needles of any length in size for yarn
Skill level: Intermediate: basic knitting skills (knit, purl, incr. decr.)

Navajo Plying Demystified: $45

Here is a simple way to make a three ply yarn from a single strand without ever having any thread left over when the yarn is plied. It can be done from a drop spindle or a spinning wheel with equal ease.
We will cover simple technique, how to begin the ply without pain, adjusting the twist and suggestions on where Navajo plying can be applied effectively.
Skill level: Basic spinning skills required on either a wheel or drop spindle.
Materials: Students must bring as least 3 ounces of spun singles on either a drop spindle or
spinning wheel bobbin. If using a spinning wheel, the wheel must be in good working order with at least one extra bobbin. If using a drop spindle, either have a second spindle or a way to remove the thread for plying.
